Privacy Policy

Kyali wo ("we", "us", "our") operates the Kyali wo mobile apps (iOS and Android) and the Kyali wo web app, connecting clients in Uganda with local service businesses for discovery, booking, and ordering. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

If you use Kyali wo to find or book a business (client):

• A display name you choose to give us.
• Your approximate country/region, detected from your device so search results show businesses near you.
• Bookings, orders, and messages you send to businesses through the app.
• A device push-notification token, so we can notify you when a business confirms a booking or order.
• If you save businesses, saved lists tied to your account.

If you list a business on Kyali wo (business owner):

• Your phone number, used to create and secure your account.
• Your business name, category, location, hours, services, products, prices, and any photos you upload.
• Bookings, orders, sales, and expense records you create in the app.
• A device push-notification token, so we can notify you of new bookings and orders.

Payments. If you use in-app deposit or order payments, we collect the mobile money phone number, amount, and transaction status needed to process the payment. Payments are processed through MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money — we do not store your mobile money PIN, and we do not have access to your mobile money account beyond the specific transaction you authorize.

Conversations. When you search using the AI chat, the text of your query may be sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) solely to interpret what you're looking for and return relevant businesses. We do not use this to build an advertising profile of you.

Automatically collected. Basic technical information (device type, app version, general usage patterns) is collected to keep the app working reliably and to understand which features are actually used.

2. How We Use Information

• To operate the core service: showing you relevant businesses, letting you book and order, and letting businesses manage those bookings and orders.
• To send you notifications about your bookings, orders, and messages.
• To process payments you initiate through the app.
• To improve search relevance and fix bugs.
• To communicate with you about your account or respond to support requests.

3. Who We Share Information With

• The business you interact with. When you book, order, or message a business, that business sees the details needed to serve you — your name, contact details you provide, and the content of your request.
• Payment processors. MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, solely to process a payment you initiate.
• Infrastructure providers. We use Google Firebase for authentication, data storage, and notifications, and OpenAI for AI-assisted search. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service (for example, keeping booking history so you and a business can refer back to it). You can request deletion at any time — see Section 6.

5. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted connections, access-controlled databases, and Firebase security rules that limit who can read or write which data) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights — Including Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly in the app: open the menu, and choose Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and, if you own a business, your business listing and its associated data. This action cannot be undone.

7. Children's Privacy

Kyali wo is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of Kyali wo after a change means you accept the updated policy.
